Today I added a new color table, the NWS Discrete reflectivity color table, to the ParaView Color Tables page. Note that this is an XML file, and your browser will want to display it, if you just click on the link. So use your browser’s Save Link As... capability to download the XML to your file system some place.
I know there is a bug in the reflectivity code that is adding at least 10 dB everywhere. I’m digging in to that.
If I have time, I will add a couple of very short tutorials to the ParaView Tutorials page. One will show you how to create a color-filled plane depiction of gridded data. The other will show you how to query the display for actual data values.
I’m a newbie at ParaView, so as you learn new things, share them with me. I chose ParaView after some initial experimentation and studying its feature list. I was especially drawn by the possibility of leveraging the community’s ongoing work on VTK, the underpinnings of ParaView. Of course, it is Open Source which has a lot of advantages in this line of work. And finally, there is the good chance that we can incorporate provenance in our toolset via the VisTrails software.
