iMRV Downloads
DOWNLOAD iMRV Latest Version 26 Feb 2010 (88 MB)
This is an OS X Disk Image (.dmg) file. It will automatically download and open. Drag the entire iMRV folder to your main /Applications folder or the one in your own account. To launch, double-click iMRV.app. This actually starts the IDL Virtual Machine which then automatically launches the iMRV tool.
Tutorials are available and with a few minutes of viewing, you should be ready to work.
A little suggestion: Mac OS seems to be pretty agnostic as to where you put applications. But since I may be producing IDL tools of various sorts outside of iMRV, you might want to make a folder inside your Applications folder called RasmussenSystems, and put all of my stuff in there. Just to keep things organized.

26 Feb 2010, Changes...
- Fixed bug in SAM reader that was leading to an error message about an incorrect value for "na"
- Slight appearance changes in the cropping tool
25 Feb 2010, Changes...
- Added Field Line plotting as a visualization type.
- Fixed a bug in Operations->Vector Ops->Velocity when w had been promoted to a higher resolution than u and v
- Added the cropping tool to allow users to quickly focus in on a region of interest
- Removed the clip limit properties from all visualizations; they are now automatically set to uniform values via the cropping tool
- Cropping to regions of interest causes the rotation tool to recenter on those regions, making examination of small regions much easier
- Made a slight improvement to the appearance of vectors
- Turned off axes. They can be added by inspecting the axes properties in the visualization browser, and setting the Style property
- Changed the shininess property of isosurface visualizations
- Got rid of the "controller visualization"
10 Feb 2010, Changes...
- Added the Velocity filter under Operations->Vector Ops->Velocity from Components. Using this operation will add a field called Velocity to your SAM folder.
- Add vector plotting as a visualization type.
- Fixed the bug causing the grayed-out label interval in the contour plotting
6 Feb 2010, Changes...
- Added the Reflectivity filter under Operations->Derived Grids->Compute Reflectivity. This will add a reflectivity grid to the data set using the particle species fields the user specifies, at the resolution of the highest-resolution species field.
4 Feb 2010, late evening, Changes...
- Added Contour as a visualization type. This is very customizable. I'll demonstrate in a tutorial that I will put up tomorrow. Eventually, you will have the ability to edit each contour in the set. Until then, it should be adequate.
- Fixed visualization names in browser. Note that you can edit them by right-clicking and displaying their properties, to make them more meaningful to your work.
- Finished and tested the three-dimensional clipping algorithm on both contours and isosurfaces.
- Fixed errors where clipping would reset to the whole grid when grid resolution was changed
4 Feb 2010 Changes...
- Support for SAM files larger than 4 GB.
- Made grid minimum and maximum properties of each field, visible in the Data Manager
- Added hourglass when converting file resolution because there was no user feedback previously
- Fixed bug that crashed the SAM file reader when reading the field name metadata
- Some rudimentary contouring is in place; not yet ready for real work.
I archive older versions and can make them available if you ever need them.
iMRV should run on OS X, Linux, UNIX, and Windows. I do not test it on those machines. If you would like to give it a try, let me know and I can provide a test version for you.
